Purpleheart, also known as Amaranth, is harvested in Central and South America. The lumber used by MAR-K is primarily harvested out of Brazil. Purpleheart as the name suggests is purple in color. The lumber is extremely hard and dense, but does machine well. Purpleheart also has excellent exterior durability. The lumber is most often used as accent strips on furniture and cabinetry, small wooden crafts, and as wooden slats on park benches. This is a custom wood that MAR-K keeps in stock and the turnaround time is about a week.
